This Sunday, The Simpsons, also known as the greatest animated TV show ever to grace the small screen, will air its 500th episode. The Simpsons have been on TV since 1987, when they debuted as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show. Since then the show has become an American icon with its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And for every single episode, there is always a new opening scene featuring the iconic couch gag. Wrap your head around that. The writers of the Simpsons have found 500 different ways for the Simpsons to gather on the couch (well no not exactly, they actually reuse each gag at least twice, but that’s still pretty impressive). And each time it’s hilarious.
